2011 - International competition winner design: The project involves a passenger terminal building – 63.400sqm - and nine other main ancillary buildings, including fire and police bases, vehicle examination buildings and bridge structures, with a total floor area of approximately 157,400 sqm.
Site Area: 22.6 ha.
The building is a connection between one of the most 2 busiest cities in the world: Hong Kong and Shenzhen. It’s designed to handle 47.850 passenger traffic a day.
The terminal is connected to the railway / metro line in the Shenzhen side, so residents are be able to take the Metro to Liantang Checkpoint and to the city center of Shenzhen.
The project aims to respond to the increasing demand to expand cross-boundary transport infrastructures for future economic growth and regional integration and co-operation. The Liantang/Heung Yuen Wai Boundary Control Point will join with the 'Eastern Corridor' in Shenzhen, which is considered an expressway that connects to the eastern part of Guangdong. It will reduce the transportation time required between Hong Kong, Shenzhen and Guangdong East significantly and promote further future development within these areas
